Newark Art Supply will contribute meaningfully to the economy of
Newark while strengthening the artist community. Unlike traditional
art supply or retail stores, in conjunction with supplying "hard" supplies
it will set the stage for "soft" supplies to emerge. Soft supplies, or ideas,
will be generated from relationships developed within the space as
individuals meet for art workshops and community events.

We will offer a large variety of art and craft supplies focusing on those
items that are the immediate needs of local artists, as well as visual art
and architecture students We will offer classes as well as hold art-related
events such as live music, figure drawing and movie nights.

The Museum of African American Music is the first facility of its kind to house
the musical genres of gospel, blues, jazz, rhythm and blues, rock and roll and
hip-hop all in one place. MoAAM programs in arts and culture will be in the
community, in the schools and will develop projects that are inside and outside
the physical museum facility. It is the jewel that will return the bright sparkle to
the Lincoln Park Historic district that has not existed since the area's glory days
of mansions, society events and business tycoons. An anchoring facility for the
southern end of Broad Street, MoAAM has designation as an Affiliate of the
revered Smithsonian Institution, the only one in New Jersey.
