VISIONARY is an online interview project that profiles individuals who are using culture to urgently, innovatively and daringly re-imagine how we live this existence. Through engaging each artist’s greatest visions and deepest fears it seeks to sustain, document, share and ultimately transform how we live and feel about community as individuals internationally. OFFERING is a section of VISIONARY that profiles art that is shared outside traditional gallery and museum settings.  It seeks to document exciting and innovative work that artists and others have decided to share within free mass culture locations including television, internet and public street spaces. POWER TO THE PEOPLE | NOVEMBER 2008 Dear Friends, REBORN  greets you with - POWER TO THE PEOPLE! TODAY Newark, NJ kicks off its 7th ANNUAL ARTIST STUDIO TOUR and I am honored to present to this issue of VISIONARY www.rebornhome.com entitled POWER TO THE PEOPLE. REBORN presents FOUR NEW INTERVIEWS with Newark based artists ASHA GANPAT and MATTHEW GOSSER and guest community visionaries ELLA TURENNE and AGITATORS COLLECTIVE. This issue highlights the strongest themes of Newark based and community artists: questioning the status quo, embracing outside cultures and visions and encouraging experimental and responsive art practice. It is not anything new at all that artists serve the needs of the people.  Mainly because ARTISTS ARE THE PEOPLE; wedded to a life of translating ideas, movements and innovations into material form. Newark, NJ boasts a proud tradition of uniting historical, social and cultural needs and visions into form that appeals to the heart and mind in innovative ways.
